LATEST NEWS AND MATCH REPORT

3rd September 2019 AGM.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the AGM for this year has finally been arranged for the 3rd September 2019. It will be held at the Travelodge, Tolworth Tower. When you arrive please report to the reception desk as you'll need to sign in for Fire Regulations. You will then be escorted or told where the meeting is being held. It's easy to find, lift to 2nd floor, right then left out out lift and we can meet up in the barcafe which will be on the left. Could we please arrive in time for the meeting to start at 7pm. As I believe it, the barcafe will be open from at least 6.45pm, where you can purchase drinks and snacks. If tea and coffee are your thing, these will be provided in the meeting room.
As you know, we need at least ONE member of each team to be at the meeting so could you please organise this to happen.
We will also be looking for a replacement for Colin, our outgoing Treasurer. His knowledge will be sorely missed as will his presence on the lanes.
As Paul has previously stated on this notice board, if anyone has any news or points to be raised could you please let him know before the meeting.
I look forward to seeing you all (or at least those that can be bothered) at the meeting and getting the new season off to a great start on the 17th September.
Any questions or points to raise please contact:
League Secretary (secretary@kc4bowling.com)

CONGRATULATIONS TO PINBUSTERS WHO ARE THIS YEAR'S LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Blind Drunk were close behind in second with Jokers Wild in third place.

Note1:  It is official. We have been given 6 dressed lanes for every Tuesday during the summer break, as long as we have atleast 14 people attending.  If we consistently exceed this, they will review allocating further lanes.  This means from the 11th June we will start the "KC4 Summer Practice" sessions.  If you are interested in attending, please send me a text, so i can add your name and number to a group chat on WhatsApp.  My number is 07716 563260.  Thanks, Paul Mitchell. League Secretary.

Report1:  As you are aware, we held an end of season "Playoff" with the Special Olympics bowlers on Tuesday 28th May.  KC4 fielded 16 bowlers, who were partnered off with 2 S/O bowlers, for a trios playoff.  The competition was fierce, but the fun was the full order of the day.  The S/O's had a real blast and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. So much so, they want to make it a regular thing.  Everyone had a great night and Ian Wall's Team took the early lead.  However, this was soon overtaken and the winning team on the night (After a recount) was Roldan and Nanie's team with an incredible 1133 h/c team series.  Further mention has to go out to Iriana Lagman, who stormed the first game with a massive 256 scratch game.  I hope you all had as much fun as the S/O guys and welcome any feedback.  Well done again to Roldan and Co. for winning the coveted "Mini Ten Pin" trophy.

I hope you all enjoyed playing in this year's league.  Please keep an eye on the website during the summer break for news regarding the AGM and next year's league.

After the issues we had with last year's AGM venue it is likely that we will not be returning there this year. Full details of the AGM will be published on the website and emailed to current league captains.

It would be helpful if team captains could email the League Secretary (secretary@kc4bowling.com) provisional details of their teams a couple of weeks prior to the AGM so we don't have any last minute surprises before the next league starts.

Colin Woolley has said that he will not be standing for re-election as Club Treasurer next year so we definately need volunteers and proposals to fill that position which Colin has so admirably performed for more years than I can remember.

Thanks

CLUB NEWS AND INFORMATION

Team Dues - Blinds and Postponed Games

Occasionally things happen wherby a team cannot field a full squad and have to either bowl with a 'Blind' or postpone a match.  Most of you appreciate that where there is a 'Blind', the team concerned still has to pay the full amount, as if there were 4 players (another good reason to find a 'Spare' player).

What seems less well known is that when there is a postponement, both teams concerned are still required to pay the lane fees for the week that they were scheduled to play originally (I do not need the dues to be paid in advance, but they should be paid when the teams are next at the Bowl).

This is because the League contracts, with the Bowl, to play 144 games across 12 lanes each week.  Where there is a postponement we are obliged by our contract to pay - even where the unused lanes are reallocated.  Teams postponing their match do not have to pay any additional lane fees when they later arrange to play but the Bowl needs to be told that their booking is as a result of a postponement, giving the original match date, so that they can check their records of the postponement.

Where teams decide, for time or other reasons, to resort to a 'double header', therby not playing their postponed games, they are still required to pay the lane dues.

If you remain unclear about this, please speak to me when next bowling or contact me via the League Secretary or website.

Thanks for your co-operation

Colin Woolley

Treasurer

The Peeky Memorial Tournament had to be postponed due to a clash with a large scratch tournament which diluted entries for this tournament. A new date is being organised when there are no competing tournament. Watch this space for news.

This is an event enjoyed by all who took part in previous years. The event will again be raising money for Help For Heroes (a charity which was very close to Andrew's heart) with the target of beating last years £1760. Keeping with tradition, there will be a Cake stall, a massive raffle, and a raffle / auction featuring Andrew's 3 piece Rileys Special Edition Snooker cue. A big thank you to anyone who took part last year but lets make this event an even bigger and better one this year by creating problems for Chloe Bruton (the tournament secretary) by overflowing every squad.

Constitution and Rules
The Constitution and Rules incorporating the changes agreed at this year's AGM can be accessed using the INFORMATION tab menu on this website.

YBC
Nick Peek is building a web site for our very young bowlers (PeeWees) at Tolworth. Part of the site includes history of the YBC in years gone by. Can anyone with photos of the YBC in the past please contact Nick. The website is:-
www.tolworth10pin.co.uk

A start of loading the KC4 History to the web has been made - which can be viewed via the "Club History" selection tab. Our history goes back to the year dot ..... but there are some gaps and years where I have very little information about what was happening. Please have a read on what we know at the moment. Anyone that can help with more information or comments will be welcomed with open arms.
