The KC4's Ten Pin Bowling League plays at the Charrington Bowl in Tolworth, Surrey on Tuesdays starting at 7pm. The League has bowlers with a wide range of abilities, catering for both the serious bowlers and those that are new to the sport whilst combining competitive league bowling with a fun and social side.
The league bowls throughout the year with a break during August. The league year is split into two seasons, Winter and Summer. The Winter League normally comprises 12 teams each with four bowlers. This usually runs from early September through to May. The Summer League normally comprises fewer teams, typically 6 to 10, fielding 3 bowlers. The Summer League runs for 10 weeks from May until July.
To ensure a full team each week, a team can register up to eight bowlers. Thus bowlers who can not bowl every week are catered for.
The league is a handicapped league - which means lower average bowlers are on a similar footing to high average bowlers. To encourage new bowlers, the league has adopted a handicapping system that gives novice bowlers plenty of opportunity to win against our high average bowlers. Proof that we are getting it right in handicapping is seen by the closeness of teams at the end of season and the great improvement in averages seen by bowlers new to our league.
Regular annual social events include a Dinner and Dance. These are all subsidised from the profits from our very popular weekly raffles. Christmas week is normally celebrated with mince pies and wine at the back of the lanes - a tradition which started many years ago but is welcomed by current bowlers.
Once you join the KC4s, you can expect to stay with us for years. The reason bowlers do leave leave is normally that they are moving away from the district, retiring due to old age, having a young family (but only until they are ready to join the league!) or moving jobs. We just do not loose bowlers for other reasons - which has been reflected in the league remaining at around 12 teams over the years whilst other leagues have come and gone.
As a night out it is a great experience meeting people from all walks of life; the four man team format gives just the right balance for time to be sociable with bowling at a reasonable rate. Come and find out about the KC4's experience - once tried never forgotten. We will find a place for you to bowl as a reserve or a regular team bowler.
For more information any of the league officers can be approached on Tuesdays. No need to be shy, we have all have been through the process of joining a league for the first time and not knowing how you will be accepted by the other bowlers. If you want more details about the league - please email the Secretary - secretary@kc4bowling.com
